Role Summary:
The SAP Fioneer FPSL Banking Consultant is responsible for hands-on functional configuration and implementation of SAP Fioneer Financial Products Subledger (FPSL) for banking products. The role supports detailed design, build, testing, and deployment of intregration with source system, event-based accounting, ensuring accurate subledger postings and seamless integration with SAP S/4HANA Finance in line with IFRS 9 and local GAAP requirements.
The consultant acts as a functional execution specialist, translating approved finance designs into FPSL configuration and supporting testing, reconciliation, and go-live activities.
Key Responsibilities:
FPSL Functional Configuration (Banking)
Configure FPSL objects for banking products including:
o Loans and advances
o Deposits
o Money market instruments
o Securities / bonds (if in scope)
Implement FPSL components:
o Contract types and contract attributes
o Event types and event processing
o Posting schemas and accounting determinations
Support setup of:
o Valuation areas
o Subledger accounting layers
o accounting principles / ledgers
2. Accounting & IFRS 9 Support
Implement FPSL accounting logic aligned to:
o IFRS 9 classification (AC / FVOCI / FVTPL)
o Effective Interest Rate (EIR) based accruals
o Fee and charge handling
Support postings related to:
o Initial recognition
o Accruals and amortization
o Derecognition events
Assist Finance Lead/Architect in validating:
o Accounting outcomes
o Posting results at contract and GL level
Integration Support (Source Systems & S/4HANA)
Support inbound integration from:
o Core banking systems
o Treasury / trading platforms
Assist with:
o Event payload validation
o Attribute mappings and enrichments
Support outbound integration to:
o SAP S/4HANA Universal Journal
Validate:
o Document splitting
o GL account derivations
o Posting completeness and consistency
4. Testing, Reconciliation & Defect Resolution
Execute and support:
o Unit Testing (UT)
o System Integration Testing (SIT)
o User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
Perform and support reconciliations:
o Source system vs FPSL
o FPSL subledger vs SAP GL
Analyze and resolve:
o Posting errors
o Accounting mismatches
o Integration defects
Support parallel run activities with legacy subledgers
5. Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
Prepare functional deliverables including:
o Configuration documents
o Test scripts and test evidence
o Mapping and reconciliation documents
Support:
o Knowledge transfer to client teams
o Go-live readiness and hypercare activities
Required Skills & Experience:
Mandatory
4–8 years of experience in banking finance or accounting system implementations
Practical experience with:
o SAP Fioneer FPSL (Banking context)
o SAP S/4HANA Finance integration
Strong understanding of:
o Banking products accounting
o Event-based / transaction-based accounting concepts
Good working knowledge of:
o IFRS 9 fundamentals (implementation perspective)
Preferred / Nice to Have:
Experience with:
o Core banking systems integration
o High-volume transaction processing
o Reconciliation and finance close cycles
Exposure to other SAP Fioneer offerings (advantage)
Prior experience in:
o Large SAP programs
o Regulatory or audit-driven finance transformations
Education: At least a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Software/Electronics Engineering, Information Systems, or closely related field is required.
