Position: Mainframe z/OS System Programmer
Location: Phoenix Metro, AZ
Work Model: Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)

Role Summary:
Seeking a highly skilled Mainframe z/OS System Programmer responsible for the installation, customization, maintenance, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and security support of IBM z/OS and associated system software.
Key Responsibilities:
– z/OS Administration: Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade IBM z/OS; perform version upgrades and migrations; apply PTFs, APARs, and RSUs; manage IPL processes and system initialization; maintain PARMLIB, PROCLIB, and SYS1 datasets; monitor system health using RMF, SMF, and SDSF.
– Subsystem Support: JES2/JES3, TSO/E, ISPF, USS, RACF, DB2, CICS, IMS, MQ, Storage.
– Performance & Capacity: Analyze CPU, memory, and I/O utilization; perform system-level tuning; support capacity planning; evaluate CPU/MIPS growth and hardware upgrades.
– Problem Management: Diagnose system abends and failures; perform root-cause analysis; work with IBM and vendors on problem resolution.
– Automation: System REXX, CLIST, SA z/OS, NetView, CA7 / Control-M.
– Change Management: Support ITIL/ServiceNow processes; prepare implementation/backout plans; support weekend maintenance and IPL activities.
Required Experience:
– Strong IBM z/OS System Programming experience.
– z/OS installation, maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
– JES2/JES3, TSO/ISPF, USS, PARMLIB/PROCLIB.
– IPL and system initialization.
– RMF/SMF/SDSF and PTF/APAR/RSU maintenance.
– Strong JCL and mainframe troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Skills:
– SA z/OS / NetView, REXX/CLIST, CA7/Control-M.
– RACF and Sysplex.
– Banking/financial-services industry experience.
