Job Description – SAP BTP Solution Architect
SAP BTP & Microsoft Data Fabric

Target Platform: SAP BTP, with Microsoft Data Fabric integration
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Hybrid Data Architect to support the next generation of an AI-enabled Invoice-to-Pay application for a Finance organization.
The architect will define and guide the hybrid enterprise architecture across SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) and Microsoft Data Fabric, with SAP BTP prioritized as the target application platform.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in enterprise architecture, SAP BTP, Microsoft data technologies, data integration, APIs, security, governance, and cloud-based data architecture.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Solution Design
Define and document current-state, transition-state, and target-state architectures across SAP BTP and Microsoft Data Fabric.
Establish platform boundaries, application components, dependencies, data flows, integration patterns, and technical design decisions.
Define scalable and reusable enterprise architecture patterns aligned with security, governance, and operational requirements.
Develop architecture diagrams and technical specifications throughout the solution lifecycle.
Data & Integration Architecture
Design secure, scalable, and reusable patterns for accessing, integrating, transforming, and exchanging SAP and non-SAP data.
Architect integrations using:
APIs
Data replication
Data federation
Batch processing
Event-driven integration
Other enterprise integration patterns
Design and troubleshoot complex data flows across SAP and Microsoft environments.
Ensure appropriate data security, governance, performance, and reliability.
Technical Leadership
Partner with SAP BTP, Microsoft Full-Stack, Service Operations, Finance, Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, Developers, and Data Engineers.
Translate business and technical requirements into scalable solution designs.
Provide architectural direction and implementation guidance to development and data engineering teams.
Review technical designs and provide recommendations throughout the program.
Design Governance & Implementation Support
Review application configurations, code, integrations, and technical designs for compliance with approved architecture.
Ensure alignment with:
Security standards
Architecture principles
Program standards
Naming conventions
Change-control processes
Identify architectural gaps and recommend corrective actions.
Troubleshoot cross-platform issues involving SAP BTP and Microsoft data environments.
Testing & Operational Readiness
Define and support testing requirements for application components, data flows, integrations, security, and performance.
Establish requirements for monitoring, logging, failure recovery, and operational support.
Work closely with Service Operations to ensure solutions are production-ready.
Support performance, reliability, and operational readiness activities.
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
Create and maintain:
Architecture diagrams
Technical specifications
Integration designs
Architecture Decision Records (ADRs)
System documentation
Operational procedures
Transfer knowledge and reusable architecture practices to internal platform and engineering teams.
Required Qualifications
Strong experience as a Data Architect, Solution Architect, Enterprise Architect, or Hybrid Cloud Architect.
Hands-on architecture experience with SAP BTP.
Strong understanding of Microsoft data platforms / Microsoft Fabric.
Experience designing enterprise data and application architectures across SAP and Microsoft ecosystems.
Strong knowledge of enterprise integration patterns including API, replication, federation, batch, and event-driven integration.
Experience translating business requirements into technical architecture and implementation plans.
Strong understanding of data security, governance, scalability, performance, and operational requirements.
Experience creating architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and solution documentation.
Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting Finance, Invoice-to-Pay (I2P), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), or SAP ERP/SAP S/4HANA initiatives.
Experience with AI-enabled enterprise applications.
Experience working with SAP BTP application and integration services.
Experience with Microsoft Fabric and modern cloud data architecture.
Experience working in large enterprise environments with formal architecture governance.
Experience collaborating with developers, data engineers, business analysts, and infrastructure/service-operations teams.

Candidates who are primarily traditional Data Analysts, BI Analysts, or ETL Developers without enterprise architecture experience would not be a strong fit.
