Senior Python AWS Cloud Developer – Revenue Fare Management Systems
Location: New York City, NY, Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite in NYC (Local Candidate – In Person Interview Mandatory)
Rate: $70/Hour – C2C Contract

Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Python AWS Cloud Developer to join the Revenue Fare Management Systems team. The consultant will be responsible for back-office web application development supporting legacy revenue applications and contributing to the development of a new Fare Payment System.
This role will support the roadmap to merge and unify LIRR and MNR revenue applications and will involve Python development, API development, AWS cloud technologies, web application development, containerization, database development, and real-time transaction systems.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement custom modules and APIs using Python.
Design, develop, and deploy web-based applications and REST APIs.
Develop and support real-time transaction systems for ticket validation.
Develop and configure AWS API Gateway solutions.
Build and maintain cloud applications using AWS services.
Implement containerized applications using Docker.
Deploy and manage applications using Kubernetes/EKS.
Work with AWS IAM / Identity Center for access and security.
Support server-based and serverless deployment strategies.
Develop web application frontends for internal applications.
Develop web application frontends for external customer-facing applications.
Work with SQL and Oracle PL/SQL for application and database development.
Develop and maintain Windows and Linux scripts using PowerShell and Bash.
Participate in code reviews, technical planning, release planning, and deployment activities.
Create and maintain technical documentation and development tooling.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful application delivery.
Provide level-of-effort estimates and recommendations for feature prioritization.
Develop visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces.
Perform cross-browser, cross-platform, and cross-device testing.
Ensure applications comply with accessibility and applicable web standards.
Participate in user testing and evaluate designs based on usability principles.
Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide recommendations on application architecture and design.
Follow web application security best practices.
Integrate third-party applications and tools as required.
Required Technical Skills
Strong experience with Python development and Python scripting.
Experience with Python web frameworks such as Django and FastAPI.
Strong experience with AWS Cloud Development and Deployment.
Experience with AWS API Gateway.
Experience with Docker containerization.
Experience with Kubernetes and Amazon EKS.
Experience with AWS IAM / Identity Center.
Experience with server and serverless deployment strategies.
Strong understanding of REST APIs and web application development.
Experience with SQL and Oracle PL/SQL.
Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and AJAX.
Experience with PowerShell and Bash scripting.
Experience with Git/GitHub or similar source/version control systems.
Knowledge of object-oriented design and data modeling.
Understanding of web application security.
Experience integrating third-party applications and services.
Preferred Skills
Experience with PHP.
Experience developing financial, payment, ticketing, transportation, or revenue management applications.
Experience with real-time transaction processing systems.
Knowledge of UX/UI design principles.
Knowledge of SEO coding best practices.
Experience with accessibility standards and cross-platform compatibility.
AWS certification, particularly AWS Certified Developer or related certification.
