Mainframe z/OS System Programmer
Locations: Phoenix, AZ
Work Model: Hybrid / Onsite 3 days per week

Role Overview
Seeking an experienced Mainframe z/OS System Programmer responsible for installation, customization, maintenance, performance optimization, security, and availability of IBM z/OS and associated system software.
Key Responsibilities
z/OS Administration & Maintenance
Install, configure, and maintain IBM z/OS.
Perform z/OS upgrades, migrations, and maintenance.
Apply PTFs, APARs, RSUs, and other system maintenance.
Manage IPLs and system initialization.
Maintain PARMLIB, PROCLIB, and SYS1 system datasets.
Monitor system health using RMF, SMF, SDSF, and related tools.
Subsystem Support
Install, configure, and support:
JES2/JES3
TSO/E
ISPF
USS
RACF
Collaborate with DB2, CICS, IMS, MQ, and Storage teams.
Performance & Capacity
Analyze system performance and implement tuning improvements.
Support capacity planning and resource optimization.
Analyze CPU, memory, and I/O utilization.
Support hardware and capacity planning activities.
Problem Management
Diagnose system failures, abends, and performance issues.
Perform root-cause analysis for outages and major incidents.
Work with IBM and software vendors on problem resolution.
Automation
Develop and maintain automation using:
REXX
CLIST
SA z/OS
NetView
Support scheduling tools such as CA-7 and Control-M.
Security & Compliance
Support RACF and system-level security configurations.
Assist with vulnerability remediation and patching.
Support enterprise security and audit requirements.
Change & Documentation
Execute changes through ITIL/ServiceNow processes.
Prepare implementation, validation, and backout plans.
Support maintenance windows and IPL activities.
Maintain system documentation, SOPs, and DR procedures
