Job Description

This role is responsible for building and maintaining scalable, accessible React and TypeScript components within the Design System, supporting multi-brand experiences. The ideal candidate partners closely with UX and engineering teams to translate Figma designs into production-ready components, maintain documentation and testing standards, and leverage AI tools and modern workflows to improve development efficiency and quality.

Primary Responsibilities

Build, maintain, and enhance the shared React, AEM, and Design System Figma Repository used across Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises.
Develop reusable, accessible, and scalable UI components that can be consumed by multiple applications.
Translate Figma designs into production-ready React components while ensuring design fidelity.
Build and maintain Design Tokens (primitive, semantic, and component tokens) to support multi-brand theming.
Ensure components are performant, SSR-compatible, and reusable across different platforms.
Create and maintain Storybook documentation for all components.
Write comprehensive unit tests (Vitest/Jest) to ensure component reliability and quality.
Collaborate closely with UX designers, Design System architects, and application development teams.
Support component versioning, documentation, and continuous improvement of the Design System.
Assist application teams in adopting and integrating Design System components.

Required Technical Skills

Develop and maintain reusable, scalable React and TypeScript components that support enterprise applications.
Build and evolve Design System architecture, including design tokens, component APIs, theming, and component libraries.
Create and maintain Storybook documentation, component examples, and usage guidelines to support adoption and consistency.
Ensure high-quality, reliable code through automated testing, code reviews, and established engineering best practices.
Partner closely with designers to translate Figma designs into accessible, WCAG-compliant components and experiences.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate should:

Think in reusable systems rather than individual pages.
Build highly configurable, reusable React components.
Work confidently with both designers and developers.
Own a component from Figma design through implementation, testing, and documentation.
Follow Design System best practices and coding standards.
Prioritize accessibility, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
Have experience supporting multiple brands using a shared Design System.
Be comfortable reviewing pull requests and mentoring other developers on component development.
Well-versed in AI tools, emerging technologies, and industry best practices, with the creativity and curiosity to apply them in ways that improve development efficiency, enhance code quality, and drive innovation within the Design System practice.
